Ben Jones is a visual thinker at heart, drawn to the moment where abstract ideas begin to take shape on screen. From the early days of building Preference Studio, Ben has been central to its hands-on, experimental approach, one rooted in testing ideas quickly, working with what’s available, and trusting that the process only needs to serve the final result.

Ben’s creative strength lies in pre-visualisation: the ability to imagine how something intangible might look, feel, and function once it exists as footage. His background in camera and lighting gives him a practical fluency that’s invaluable in early problem-solving, allowing ideas to move from concept to execution without unnecessary friction. Often, his ideas evolve most clearly once they’re in motion - shaped by collaboration, iteration, and what emerges on set.

Naturally thoughtful and attentive, Ben helps create calm, focused creative environments by listening first and understanding the purpose of a project before pushing ideas forward. He believes that clearly defined parameters don’t restrict creativity - they unlock it, keeping teams aligned and energy directed where it matters most.

Alongside client work, Ben has always maintained personal creative projects as a way to explore new techniques and ideas. His annual self-set Christmas films are a good reflection of his personality: experimental, playful, resourceful, and unafraid to combine practical effects, simple animation, found objects, and imperfect performances to discover something new.

Ben brings curiosity, DIY pragmatism, and visual clarity to everything he works on, helping Preference Studio turn ambitious ideas into distinctive, thoughtful work.
